Haven of Rest Women’s Auxiliary
Haven of Rest Women’s Auxiliary has been in existence since November 1944 and will celebrate 66 years in 2010! The Auxiliary exists solely for the purpose of raising funds for mission needs for which support may not be available. Auxiliary officers from left to right are Mary Jordan, Treasurer, Kathy Walker, Vice-President, Joan Culbertson, President, and Linda Mahan, Secretary.
The Auxiliary meets the first Tuesday of each month in the mission’s dining room. Women of all ages are welcome. Come anytime between 10 a.m. and noon for browsing and shopping in the gift shop ably ran by Madeline Chaffin, chair of the Ways and Means Committee, and her crew of volunteers. There is no charge for lunch, which is served at noon. A free-will offering is collected during lunch for the current Auxiliary project and to help defray meal costs. The Auxiliary program begins at 1:00 PM. in the auditorium.
Over the years, the Auxiliary has supported many worthwhile projects for the mission and recently shared the cost of replacing the folding doors in the main auditorium. Half of the cost was $12,500 and was paid in eight months thanks to the shopping and generosity of Auxiliary members.
Jan Hershman was voted "Woman of the Year" by Haven of Rest's Women's Auxiliary. She received this honor at the Anniversary banquet on April 23.
The monthly Auxiliary meetings are a wonderful place to visit with friends and meet new ones. We look forward to seeing you next month!!
