Serving the Homeless in Northeast Ohio with Meals, Shelter, & Clothing | Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation | Faith Based Rescue Mission in Akron, Ohio

The Haven of Rest, a faith based rescue mission, serves as a light to the homeless community in and around the Akron Ohio area. Offering food, shelter, safety, drug rehabilitation and most of all hope to those most in need.

A New Beginning

“Until the age of eleven I was raised by my mother. One of my fondest memories as a child was catching the bus with her to attend the Akron Baptist Temple and the Cathedral of Tomorrow. She tried to do her best by my brother and me. It proved to be too much responsibility, and eventually we went to live with our father,” said Kathy Sdono, a recent graduate of Haven of Rest Women’s Division Becoming Program.

Kathy’s parents wanted the best for her. They wanted her to be happy and to develop the necessary skills to be successful in life. Their desire to keep her focused led to pressures that were not best for her emotionally.
